Front-End Developer

Description

We are looking for a skilled Front-End Developer to join our creative team. At Kodeak, we pride ourselves on delivering high-performance, visually stunning websites that drive real results for our clients. In this role, you won’t just be “building pages”, you will be responsible for translating complex design mockups into functional, responsive, and pixel-perfect web experiences.

The ideal candidate lives and breathes the WordPress ecosystem and is a power user of Elementor. While you are comfortable working within a page builder, you possess the technical depth to step outside of it. You should be a master of HTML and CSS, with the ability to write custom styling to achieve desired looks. A basic understanding of PHP is essential for navigating WordPress themes, hooks, and functions to ensure our builds are as clean on the backend as they are on the frontend.

If you are a detail-oriented developer who enjoys the intersection of design and technology, we want to meet you.

Responsibilities

Development & Design Translation

  • Figma to Web: Transform high-fidelity Figma mockups into fully functional, responsive WordPress sites using Elementor with 1:1 visual accuracy.
  • Custom Styling: Write clean, maintainable HTML and CSS to extend Elementor’s capabilities, ensuring unique brand elements are executed perfectly.
  • Dynamic Functionality: Utilize basic PHP to manipulate WordPress hooks and filters, ensuring seamless integration with plugins and custom post types.

Server & Site Management

  • Cloudways Operations: Manage and configure server instances within the Cloudways platform, including cloning, staging environments, and vertical scaling when necessary.
  • Launch Coordination: Handle the full “Go-Live” process, including DNS configuration (A records, CNAMEs, MX records), SSL installation, and database migration.
  • Live Site Maintenance: Perform routine updates, troubleshoot plugin conflicts, and optimize site speed/Core Web Vitals for our existing portfolio of clients.

Client Interaction & Project Flow

  • Direct Communication: Participate in client meetings to discuss technical possibilities, project timelines, and post-launch training.
  • Feedback Implementation: Act as the primary point of contact for client revisions, translating non-technical feedback into actionable development tasks.
  • QA & Testing: Conduct rigorous cross-browser and mobile-responsiveness testing before presenting builds for client approval.

Strategic Contribution

  • Technical Consulting: Advise the internal marketing team on the technical feasibility of new design concepts or feature requests.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all sites are built with SEO best practices and security protocols in mind to protect client data.

A Few “Bonus” Responsibilities:

  • ADA Compliance: Ensuring sites meet WCAG accessibility standards (a huge selling point for modern agencies).
  • Conversion Optimization: Suggesting UI/UX tweaks that might improve lead generation for your digital marketing clients.
  • API Integrations: Basic experience connecting WordPress forms to CRMs or email marketing tools (Mailchimp, HubSpot, etc.).

qualifications

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in front-end development, specifically within a marketing agency or high-volume freelance environment.
  • WordPress Mastery: Deep knowledge of the WordPress ecosystem, including theme hierarchy, plugin compatibility, and Gutenberg vs. Elementor workflows.
  • The “Big Three” Stack: Expert-level HTML5 and CSS3 (Flexbox and Grid are second nature to you). Solid foundation in PHP for WordPress-specific functions.
  • Figma Proficiency: Ability to inspect layers, export assets, and interpret design systems from Figma to ensure pixel-perfect development.
  • Cloud & Deployment: Hands-on experience with Cloudways (or similar cloud hosting like DigitalOcean/Vultr). You should be comfortable with SFTP, SSH, and database management (phpMyAdmin).
  • Domain & DNS Knowledge: A firm grasp of DNS records (A, CNAME, TXT, MX) and the ability to troubleshoot propagation issues during site launches.

Soft Skills & Communication

  • Client-Facing Confidence: The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients without using over-complicated jargon.
  • The “Agency Hustle”: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: When a plugin breaks or a CSS layout collapses on Safari, you have the patience and skill to debug and fix it efficiently.
  • Eye for Detail: You notice when a margin is 5px off or a font weight doesn’t match the mockup.

Bonus Points (Not Required, but a Plus)

  • Experience with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics setup.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/jQuery for custom animations or interactions.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices (schema markup, image optimization, and site speed).
